Around 526 AD, a rich young man named Benedict came to Subiaco (East of Rome) in search of a place for meditation and prayer.  He lived in a cavern and was joined by other young men, thus the monastic order of the Benedictines was created.  In 529 AD Benedict and his monks moved to Montecassino and founded the Abbey.  The Abbey of Montecassino became one of the most important religious and cultural institutions of the Middle Ages and was famous for its rich collections of illuminated manuscripts, frescoes and mosaics.

During World War II, after the American forces entered Naples, Nazi Germany decided to use Montecassino as a defense fortress, in order to stop the Allied advance towards Rome.  The Abbey sits on a high hill that dominates the area.  After many attempts at taking out the German forces without harming the monastery failed, the decision was made to bomb.  The Germans were obliterated, but so was the Abbey.  Fortunately, the monks were able to hide from destruction the manuscripts and other treasures.  The Abbey was rebuilt after the war using the original plans, stones  and construction material.  Today the Abbey of Montecassino looks beautiful and it is hard to believe that such a calm and serene place was the scene of mayhem and destruction.

bulletThe posters and prints you order here are NOT the mass-produced, flimsy paper "dime-a-dozen" variety: every panoramic poster and print is printed "on demand" just for you, on photographic paper.  This ensures extreme high quality and a truly "limited" distribution.
bullet You may chose GLOSSY or MATTE surface paper.  If you do not specify otherwise, your order will be processed on GLOSSY paper.
bullet Escape: decorate your office or cubicle with a panoramic poster (or print) of a dream place.
bulletGift idea for your sweetheart (or treat yourself...):  A unique panoramic poster!
bulletThe Panoramic Posters and Panoramic Prints make exceptional gifts.  Please order well in advance of major Holidays.
bullet These posters are custom printed professionally and look absolutely stunning.  Exactly the same image presented on the Web site is printed (minus the copyright overlay).  Panoramic pictures present a view that is impossible to capture with "normal" cameras.  The very large panoramas present a view that is larger than the human normal field of view.  Because of technical reasons (due to panoramic processing and exceptionally large field of view), when examined under magnification, certain elements may appear distorted or imperfect.   Any such imperfections are not visible under normal viewing and will not interfere with the enjoinment of the beautiful panorama.

Question: I have a few VHS video tapes in PAL format (a foreign television format). I can not play them on my television. What can I do?

Answer:

Send your tape to a company that will transfer your tape from PAL (foreign television format) to NTSC (American television format). The company that can do that is:

Television Standards Conversions - NTSC, PAL, SECAM - Extreme Quality! AVConvert.com
This is a good resource for tape-to-tape transfers.   You send in the tape in the foreign format (PAL), they will transfer it to a tape in the American format (NTSC) and return to you both the original tape and the newly transferred tape.

Video Transfer to DVD. From PAL or NTSC. t2DVD.com
This is a good resource for transfer to DVD.  This company can transfer your PAL VHS tape (the foreign video tape) into an NTSC DVD (for viewing in the USA).  You pay for the transfer to DVD, but the PAL to NTSC conversion is free!  (Also, conversions from NTSC to PAL)
