Pura Dalem - Temple; small image

The curvature you see in this panoramic picture is not an optical illusion, caused by the wide angle. The Pura Dalem temple is really curved, it has a curved gate, and is situated on a curved road.

The bikes in the foreground enhance the flavor of this picture. These bikes are the most common means of transportation for the average Balinese. At rush hour, the traffic is dominated by these low powered bikes. It is not uncommon to see three adults on a bike, or sometimes an entire family: husband, wife and two children. The natives say that an expatriate has not really become a true Balinese until he can ride his bike with wife and children.
